Christopher Anvil (1925-2009)
The American writer Harry C. Crosby made his debut in fiction in 1952 and soon adopted the pseudonym Christopher Anvil "with whom he became known.
Anvil the team was a classic writer of the magazine Astounding Stories (later Analog ) by John Campbell: competent (most times) and anthropocentric. Its protagonist he passed all standard colors and then triumph in the end thanks to his superior intellect pure John Campbell :-)
In his career he has published several novels and a substantial number of stories. In Italy I received a handful of seconds, and one of the first: When the machines will stop ( The day the machines stopped , 1964). Reprinted several times, the novel depicts a classic situation of sf and thrillers (but partially happened in reality Sometimes, the first year after publication), a global collapse of energy and stop on the machines, and has consolidated a minor but lasting reputation for its author unquestionably a small classic.
note is worth three of his short stories, selected by Isaac Asimov and Martin Greenberg for the series of anthologies The Great Stories of Science Fiction that gather each year the best story (according to Isaac & Greenberg) 1939 to 1963.
Contains the short story mental Companion (Mind partner).
Has the story All against all ( Gadget vs. Trend )
Has not the story in the literature (in literature Not ).
